EMMA O’Hara stormed to the top of the UK under 17 hammer rankings for 2011 with a magnificent personal best in Radley’s Southern Women’s League Premier Division mat-ch at Guildford.

With Radley fielding their youngest ever teams for their league double header, O’Ha-ra’s throw of 46.56m was the main talking point of the match.

Although Radley finished in last place in both the Premier and Division 1 mat-ches, the youngsters acquitted themselves admirably in what was, for many, their first taste of senior competition.

Other notable performances came from Tara Kafke, who clocked a season’s best 12.0 to win the senior women’s 100m.

Kafke also won the 400m in 58.20.

In the under 15 girls’ age group, Georgina Sunderland posted a notable double victory, as she clocked 27.10 in the 200m and 11.90 in the 75m hurdles.

Meanwhile, Kathryn Wood-cock threw 27.89m to win the under 15 girls’ discus.

Result: 1 Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow 153, 2 Guildford & Godalming 152.5, 3 Horsham 149, 4 Radley 100.5.

Radley B also showed plenty of promise, despite finishing in last position in their Division 1 match.

There were personal bests for under 15s Charlotte Parish (800m and high jump), Ellie Smith (800m and high jump), Lauren Burton (1500m), Stephanie Mott (100m) and Abbey Cottam (javelin).

Result: 1 Newbury 184.5, 2 Dorset 121, 3 Team Kennet 100, 4 Radley B 85.5.
