STEVEN Sheard had a night to remember at the league’s finals and presentation evening at Gladiators Club, writes PETE EWINS.

The Kennington ace lost his men’s individual crown, but won his other five matches on the night, landing five titles in the process, including the player-of-the-year award for a second season running.

Although Sheard let slip his individual crown to teammate Mark Trafford, going down 13,390-7,660, he won the Premier Division individual singles, beating Ian Moss 15,250-7,940.

Sheard also picked up the pairs title with Pauline Withey, racking up breaks of 20,990 and 17,670 in the process.

Sheard’s great night continued with an 18,490-3,080 win over Withey in the Off the Spot final.

Sheard also participated in two team finals for Kennington and while his team won only one – the main final – he won his matches in both.

To cap it all he took the highest break on the night award.

Withey regained her ladies title with a 7,920-2,730 win over Sonya McIntyre.

Alan Lowe was the winner of the Pat Webber Cup for the third time, while Simon Ellam, Ian Gordon and Phil Clark were the other final winners.
