OXFORDSHIRE Under 15s warmed up for tomorrow’s opening ECB Under 15 Championship match against the Isle of Wight with a two-wicket victory over Bucks at Magdalen College School.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat on a cold and windy afternoon, and they were quickly in trouble.

Bilal Hamid and Ryan Moore took two wickets apiece as Bucks were reduced to 51-4.

Tom Woodward held the innings together with a fine 76, before he was bowled by seamer Lawrence Brock.

Bucks closed on 197-8 from their 50 overs, Hamid finishing with 2-21 and Moore 2-27.

Oxfordshire’s reply got off to a flying start as Dom O’Connor and Joe Barrett shared an opening stand of 54 inside ten overs.

But both were out in successive balls, and Oxfordshire lost regular wickets to slump to 112-5, with the match in the balance.

However, a fine stand of 67 between Miles Hammond and Dan Matthews took Oxon to the brink of victory.

Hammond top-scored with 43, before it was left to Markus Jeacock and Angus Spittles to see Oxfordshire home with nine overs to spare.

The county kick off their championship campaign at Magdalen College School tomorrow (12).
