EDDIE Pepperell finished in the money on his professional debut in the Mugello Tuscany Open.

The 20-year-old, from Abingdon, came joint 45th in the European Challenge Tour event in Italy to bag himself €750.

Pepperell carded a two-over-par total of 286, which was 14 shots behind winner Antony Snobeck (France).

The Drayton Park member’s highlight was a second-round 66 – five-under-par – which saw hime make the cut in style.

Pepperell opened with a 73 and closed with rounds of 73 and 74.

His next event will be the Karnten Golf Open in Klagenfurt, Austria in June.

  • BICESTER’S Laura Watkins has a big few weeks coming up.

Watkins, a one-handicapper, competes in the St Rule Trophy over St Andrews links on May 28 and 29.

Nine days later, she will tee off in the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland from June 7-11.

Watkins is one of only two Oxfordshire players in the latter event, alongside county champion Katherine O’Connor (Tadmarton Heath).

  • DRAYTON Park raised more than £8,500 for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

The cheque was presented to Sgt Major Paul Compton and Sgt Jimmy Girvan of 21 Squadron, who are based at Abingdon’s Dalton Barracks.

  • NORTH Oxford’s Jason Riley and Brian England won Flackwell Heath’s Fourball Better Ball event for a second straight year after carding 45 points.
