HARRY Ackland has scored his maiden century at the age of 13.
Ackland hit 117 not out for Cumnor in their 42-run victory over Harwell in a friendly on Sunday.
The youngster smashed 18 fours and three sixes in his innings from a strip in the middle of the square as Cumnor reached 246-5.
Ackland said: “I knew I was seeing the ball well as I didn’t have to run any singles until I scored more than 30.
“I knew I was getting close to 100 because everybody at the ground stopped what they were doing and watched as I got nearer to my century.”
Ackland plays for Cumnor 3rd in Division 7 of the MP Sports Cherwell League, where he has already shown a good temperament.
Club captain Alastair Lee said: “His desire to practise and improve is an example many older players would do well to follow.”
