Abingdon Vale all-rounder Graham Charlesworth took 7-50 and then hit an effortless 79 not out as he effectively beat Tiddington on his own.

Put in to bat, the hosts made a decent start thanks to Jon Talbot (58), Matt Maule (39) and Sammy Thomson (32). But 161-3 soon became 183 all out as Charlesworth ran riot.

The result was never in doubt as Charlesworth and Tom Bryan (64) took Vale to 187-4 in the 40th over.

Another all-rounder to make a major contribution was Banbury 2nd’s Chris Smith, who struck 109 not out and took 3-26 in his side’s emphatic win at Great Brickhill.

Smith was well-supported by Eddie Phillips (84) and Sam Cheshire (43) as Banbury racked up 301-5 dec after they were asked to bat first.

Andy Ward (57) was the only home batsman to get going as they were all out for 193, Josh Megson taking 3-36.

Chas Taylor (67), Chris Thompson (53no) and Alex Kill (52) all showed fine early season form as Sandford St Martin found batting easy against Aston Rowant 2nd.

Put in to bat, the hosts had little difficulty reaching 248-4, although Tim Foster (3-53) exercised some control.

Rowant did not threaten victory after tea, but were never in any danger either as Paul Plumridge (49) and Mark Walker (45) steered them to 172-5 and a draw.

Olly Dimbylow took 7-35 but none of his Challow & Childrey teammates enjoyed any success with the ball as their game at Long Marston ended in a draw.

The visitors had managed 242 all out after deciding to bat first, Nigel Hume top-scoring with 59. Pete Toovey produced a magnificent 13.5 over spell to finish with figures of 6-39.

Marston were soon in trouble against Dimbylow, but Matt Storey (71no) and James Beesley (53no) dug in to take the hosts to 188-7.

L Marston 8, Challow & Childrey 18

Seventeen wickets fell while only 147 runs were scored in the match between Wolverton Town and Banbury Twenty, with the visitors losing out.

Twenty chose to bat and were soon bundled out for 72 by Zaheer Khan (3-12) and Andrew Gosling (3-35).

Keith Arnold then took 4-25 and James Soppet 3-34 to keep their side in the hunt, but Town limped to 75-7.

Banbury Twenty were deducted five points for failing to provide a scorer.
