Nick Edmondson hit 50, Ian Pykett 43 and John Mackie 38 in reply, but the visitors fell well short to draw on 168-5.

Cublington’s first Cherwell League match ended in a four wicket win at Challow & Childrey 2nd.

Howard Sayers (3-8), Greg Jenkins (3-37) and Benedict Orchard (3-45) all bowled well for the newcomers as a clatter of wickets saw Challow fall to 131 all out.

Cublington also found batting difficult against quickie Dan Alderson (3-39), but Adam Goldberg’s 40 proved just enough as they reached 134-6 after 39 overs.

Fifteen-year-old George Patey played a mature innings to make 47 not out and steer Thame Town 2nd to 221, before he ran out of partners.

Visitors Cropredy 2nd were in trouble against Ed Goggs’s (3-28) opening burst, before Ian McStay’s 4-19 finished them off for 137 as .
