Oxford United were holding Shrewsbury Town 0-0 at half-time in their last npower League Two game of the season at GreenHous Meadow.
There were few scoring chances in the first 45 minute, which was marred by fighting among Shrewsbury supporters in one section of the ground.
Josh Payne had United's one real shot before the break but it flew over the ba r.
The Shrews seemed deflated by hearing that promotion rivals Wycombe had recovered to lead 2-1 after trailing early on.
