Alec Ward scored a brace as Oxford University won the Varsity Match for the third year in a row with a 3-1 victory against Cambridge University at the Kassam Stadium last night.
Ward fired the Dark Blues ahead after 15 minutes, only for Cambridge to equalise before half-time.
Ten minutes into the second half, Ward completed his double, before Anthony Beddows sealed victory with No 3 on 65 minutes as the Dark Blues won the CB Fry Trophy for the 51st time.
Their coach and Oxford United assistant manager Mickey Lewis said: “It was a close game, but we were delighted to win it.”
