KARL Bushell became the first player to defend his Hard Bat title, beating Andy Lebutt in the final at Bicester TTC.
Bushell was a worthy winner – his mix of attack and steady defence allowing him to go unbeaten throughout the whole tournament.
Bushell saw off Arun Jogi in the semi-finals to set up a clash with Lebutt.
The latter exacted revenge on Sohail Caratella, who beat him in the group stages, but found Bushnell in top form.
The Plate competition was won by Andy Misseldine, who beat Chris Hawkes in an action-packed clash, that saw Hawkes take the first leg before gradually being worn down by his opponent.
