Start Royal, from Alan Hill’s Aston Rowant stables, could bid to tighten his grip in the race to be crowned the season’s top young horse at Kingston Blount, near Chinnor, tomorrow (2pm).

The seven-year-old tops the standings after recording his fourth open success this term with a runaway win at Kimble on Easter Saturday.

Hill has given him entries in the men’s open and the members’ race, although he could wait for a hunter chase at Folkestone on Thursday.

The Aston Rowant handler, who saddled Mid Div And Creep to win at Cheltenham’s hunter chase fixture on Wednesday, also has Bon Accord and More Trouble entered in the same two races.

And he appears to be spoilt for choice in the members’ race with Ocean Du Moulin, Viel Gluck and Fly Direct also among the entry.

Ocean Du Moulin, who has won his last two starts under Hill’s daughter, Gaby, has an alternative entry in the ladies’ open, which has also attracted stablemates Balladeer and Mysaynoway.

Emily Harbour, from Emm-ingham, near Thame, who partnered Balladeer to victory at Kimble will be hoping for success to retain her lead at the top of the South Midland Area Ladies’ Championship.

Title rival Rachel King, from Waterperry, could be aboard The Hookie Bookie, while Virginia Preuil, who has won two ladies’ opens recently under Jo Banks, will also be fancied if lining up.

Phillip York has a choice of Ringa Bay, Caught In Time and Dawn Display in the intermediate as he continues his bid for the men’s championship.

Gina Andrews, who is clear in the ladies’ title race, could be in opposition on Toe To Hand.

With the dry spell continuing, Hill, who racked up his first four-timer at the last Kingston Blount meeting, has been watering the course since then and will continue to do so to maintain good ground with good to firm places.
