RICHARD Williams remained philosophical after Oxfordshire’s heavy defeat to Berkshire.
Williams, who coached the team with Craig Burrows, said: “We have got to take this on the chin.
“We did the same to East Midlands in our first match last year.
“Everything just clicked for Berkshire. The harder we tried to stop them, the more difficult it got.
“For the first ten to 15 minutes, we were in the game. Then, they scored two breakaway tries when we lost possession and we soon found ourselves 40 points down at half-time.
“It is pretty difficult to try and pick yourselves back up after that.
“But I can’t fault the effort of the players. It just wasn’t meant to be.
“Hats off to Berkshire, I thought they played very well.
“We found their support play very difficult to contain.”
