Oxford's Jason Plato will be looking to get his title defence back on track following his dramatic crash at Donington Park when he lines up in round three at Thruxton tomorrow.

The 43-year-old reigning champion went into round two as the series leader after winning two of the opening three races at Brands Hatch.

But after suffering a puncture in race one at the Derbyshire track, he rolled his Silverline Chevrolet Cruze in spectacular fashion in race two following contact from Airwaves’ Liam Griffin, who had been sent into a spin after a brush with Gordon Shedden.

Plato escaped unhurt, and remarkably his team rep-aired the mangled car so he could drive in race three where he finished sixth.

Now Plato will be hoping to bounce back at the Hampshire venue.

Standings (top six): 1 J Nash 59pts, 2 M Neal 55, 3 M Jackson 54, 4 A Jordan 45, 5 J Plato 43, 6 T Chilton 32.
