Oxford United were holding league leaders Chesterfield 0-0 at half-time at the Kassam Stadium today.
On a sweltering afternoon, the U's gave as good as they got in the first 45 minutes, against John Sheridan's promoted team.
Asa Hall headed just over from Paul McLaren's corner just before the break.
Before that, Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee saved well from Alfie Potter, and when the ball ran loose, Josh Payne's follow-up shot was brilliantly blocked by Derek Niven.
