Every new greyhound that enters the kennels at Oxford has to be marked up and urine tested under a Greyhound Board of Great Britain new rule.
This way, if a greyhound comes over from Ireland, for example, it can detect if a banned substance was used in Ireland or administered in this country.
Many cases come up that are not related to the performance of the greyhound through contaminated food.
The move will safeguard trainers if the greyhound’s sample proves positive as drugs can stay in the food chain for up to six months.
The new system can detect where the food comes from.
