Oxford City Under 11s and Vale of White Horse shared the spoils 1-1 in their County League game at Barton Recreation Ground.

Lochie Craig ran on to a pass over the Vale defence to slot through keeper Tom Taylor’s legs to give Oxford a fourth-minute lead.

But Vale were level within four minutes when Kieran Kerby smashed the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the area after Jack Buchanan’s shot rebounded off a post.

Vale then had a let-off when Craig slammed a penalty against the bar after he had been brought down by James Darling.

The visitors dominated the second half, but Oxford keeper Liam Smith ensured a point for his side with saves from Kerby, Joe Lilley and Buch-anan.

GEORGE Reid and Jared Jones hit hat-tricks as Vale of White Horse Under 14s swept to a 7-2 win over East Cornwall in their ESFA Isle of Wight Festival opener at Medina High School, Newport.

However, Vale’s victory was marred by Sam Barber suffering a suspected broken wrist.

Poor defending gifted East Cornwall two early goals.

But with Scott Grove adding to Reid and Jones’s trebles, Vale cruised to victory and could even afford the luxury of a Matthew Taylor penalty miss.
