Didcot Tn 1 (Bartley 90)

Halesowen Tn 1 (Moncheu 21)

Michael Bartley’s stoppage time equaliser boosted Didcot Town’s hopes of avoiding the drop from the Premier Division – and condemned Halesowen Town to relegation at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium.

The precious point sees the Railwaymen climb out of the relegation places on goal difference above Weymouth with two matches left.

Anthony Bruce had already thumped a dipping volley against a post before the Halesowen grabbed a 12th-minute lead.

Kevin Moncheu waltzed through a static defence and coolly rolled the ball into the net past keeper Sam Warrell.

Didcot really should have levelled before the break.

Two efforts from Elliot Osbourne-Ricketts were deflected just wide and Morgan Williams spurned another.

The best opportunity, however, fell to Bartley, but he headed over from eight yards when he should have at least hit the target.

It was more of the same in the second period with the home side on top, but Halesowen defended bravely and always looked a threat on the break.

Didcot’s Alex Stanley had the ball in the net from a corner, but was booked for punching it over the line.

Then with ten minutes remaining Stanley’s day got even worse when he was sent off for hauling back Moncheu as he was put clear on goal.

Substitute Keenan Meakin-Richards should have then sealed it for the visitors, but from only 12 yards out he scuffed his shot and Warrell gathered.

It proved to be a costly miss because with their last throw of the dice Didcot forced a corner on the left which Bartley nodded home from close range.
