Abingdon Utd 1 (Romeo 21)

Paulton Rovers 1 (Ball 82)

Abingdon United had to settle for a share of the spoils after conceding a late goal to Paulton Rovers in their Division 1 South & West clash at Northcourt Road.

There were eight minutes left when a cross beyond the far post was headed back for Alex Ball to head home.

Paulton had made the better start with United keeper Alan Foster denying Robert Claridge.

But it was Abingdon who opened the scoring after 21 minutes when Yashwa Romeo shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Graham Lewis then headed against the Paulton bar.

In the second half, Kevin Halliday’s tremendous shot for Abingdon was clawed away by Kyle Phillips.

Foster foiled Claridge, but he was powerless to prevent Ball’s equaliser.

Abingdon Utd: Foster, McCready, Carnell, Davis, Halliday, Orgad (Allaway 75), Austin, Melledew, Lewis, Romeo (Griffin 60), Parfitt. Subs not used: Christodolou, Marsh.
