WALLINGFORD director of rugby Martin Moran says they must focus on themselves as they seek to avoid relegation on the final day of the season.

Moran’s men visit Amersham & Chiltern, who can clinch the South West 1 East title with a victory tomorrow, while Wallingford’s drop-zone rivals face far easier matches.

Should Bletchley or Reading Abbey fail to beat Oakmeadians or Wimborne respectively, Wallingford could survive regardless, but Moran will be ignoring those games.

“We have to get something out of our game and it is probably the worst combination of fixtures we could have,” said Moran.

“But whatever happens in those games will happen, I can do nothing to influence that.

“We have got to do the best we can in our game.

“Our destiny is in our hands. We have got to focus on what we can do.”

Wallingford have won nine games to Abbey’s five, but the Reading club have collected 20 bonus points from 20 matches.

What may ultimately cost Wallingford is the five-point deduction they received for fielding colt James Neal, who the RFU ruled was unregistered, against Abbey on October 23.

Moran added: “It has just been too sporadic this season. I don’t think we have really been able to get on a run that gave us huge amounts of confidence.”

Kris Blaszko is set to start at hooker, with Tom Hill on the flank alongside the returning Mike Chapman.

Flanker Tim Muller replaces lock Owen Fowler as Witney bid for a top-four finish by winning at Marlow.

Witney could pass the 80-point barrier for the campaign, which would leave them regretting their mid-season losing streak even more.

Oxford Harlequins rest lock Andy Boyle (rib injury) for their National 3 South West trip to Bridgwater & Albion.

Director of rugby John Brodley admits he has one eye on the following Sunday’s Oxf-ordshire Cup final against Chi-nnor.

“We just hope that everybody comes through injury free, so we have full squad to select from for Chinnor,” said Brodley.

“In terms of the cup final, it would be strange to say that we didn’t know our team now.

“We have had a whole season to look at these players. We know our 20 for the final.”

Brodley added that Quins do not expect to have to play last Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth, which was postponed after the death of the Dorset club’s wing Sam Yarwood.

Chinnor add No 8 Tom Mowbray to their squad for the home game against Newton Abbot.

With Redingensians facing second-placed Bournemouth, a Chinnor victory could see them finish fourth.

Henley Hawks say they need to win two of their remaining three matches to secure a top-six finish in National 2 South, starting at Richmond.

Jack Shaylor starts at scrum half in place of the injured James Gaunt, who needs a shoulder operation.

Lock Jeremy Giles has returned to New Zealand for family reasons and is replaced by Dave Clements, who has recovered from a broken nose.

Richmond are coached by former Oxford University director of rugby Steve Hill, who has a number of Dark Blues in his squad.
