Swindon Super 2 (McHugh 17, Bampton 50)

Didcot Tn 0

Didcot Town dropped back into the Premier Division bottom three following a below-par performance at Supermarine.

Weymouth climbed out of the drop zone at Didcot’s expense following a 4-0 win at Tiverton.

But with four games remaining Didcot’s destiny is still in their own hands.

Didcot were hoping to boost their hopes with victory against a home side that had not won for eight games.

Apart from an early miss by Jamie Proctor for the hosts, it was the visitors who had the better of the opening half-hour, with a stunning volley from Michael Alexis rattling the crossbar.

However, they failed to test the opposing keeper James Rae with an effort on target.

And they were made to pay just before the break when Carl McHugh’s free-kick, for a disputed foul, flew past Sam Warrell in the Didcot goal.

Swindon added a second when a dreadful mix-up at the back allowed Dave Bampton to beat Warrell.

Didcot tried to get back into the game, but failed to get a reward for their efforts on a miserable day.
