Frome Town 8 (Ballinger 6, Brigham 28 Perrot 47, Thompson 58, 88 Lewis 67, 71, 76)

North Leigh 0

North Leigh’s recent good form came to a shuddering halt following a heavy away defeat in Somerset in Division 1 South & West.

Having ended Sholing’s unbeaten home record in midweek, confidence was high in the North Leigh camp.

But a second-half blitz from the hosts put paid to that.

Luke Ballinger ran from the half way line past several tackles before unleashing a powerful shot past keeper Adam Lonsdale for the opening goal.

Frome doubled their lead with a Josh Brigham penalty after Lonsdale fouled home forward Ricky Hulbert.

North Leigh put together some neat build-up play without any real threa.

But the second half proved a nightmare for Mark Gee’s side as they shipped six goals without reply.

Two minutes in, Mike Perrot converted from close range, with Ben Thomson making it 4-0 after aclearance by a defender struck him and flew into the net.

The introduction of Frome substitute Chris Lewis did the damage with a 15-minute hat-trick of quality finishes.

North Leigh tried to raise their game, but two minutes from time, their misery was compounded when Thomson fired in No 8 from close range.
