North Leigh 2 (Caton 8, Bowles 89)

Wimborne Tn 1 (Davidson 67)

Substitute Brian Bowles curled home a superb winner a minute from time as North Leigh took the points in Division 1 South & West, ending their run of three straight defeats.

It had looked as though North Leigh would have to settle for a point, but with time running out, Bowles gathered a clearance 20-yards out to curl home a superb strike past Wimborne keeper Jakub Malara to seal the points.

It had started well for Mark Gee’s men as Andy Caton fired them into an early lead.

He raced clear of Wimborne’s defence to lob the advancing Malara.

After Stuart Hole blocked a goal-bound Wimborne effort, North Leigh almost doubled the lead when Josh Dutton-Black’s rising shot cleared the bar.

In the second half, the home side had several chances to extend their lead, Matty Taylor twice being thwarted by Malara.

And the visitors punished North Leigh when substitute Jamie Davidson struck home a low shot from 18 yards.

But the home side weren’t to be denied as Bowles snatched a late victory with his wonder-strike.
