North Leigh centre back Stuart Huxley is set to end a six-month injury nightmare when they host strugglers Wimborne Town in Division 1 South & West on Saturday.

Huxley hasn’t played since September 25 when he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in the 2-2 draw with Yate Town, but is added to a squad bidding to end a run of three league defeats.

It was thought he required an operation, but instead he went through months of rehabilitation.

However, Huxley, who is dual registered for Old Woodstock Town, came through their defeat by Highfield unscathed.

“It’s a big boost to have him back,” said Gee, who is without Brian Bowles (unavailable).

“He’s played for the club for 11 to 12 seasons so you know exactly what you are going to get from him. He’s a tough lad.”

North Leigh have a doubt over Andy McCabe who suffered a knock in Tuesday’s loss against Thatcham Town.

Gee added: “We’ve been flying and then we lose three in a row.

“When you have a run of ten matches unbeaten, you don’t become a bad side overnight.”

Abingdon United manager Richie Bourne wants a response from his side following last Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing by Frome Town.

“It was a very poor performance from us, but you can’t give teams free-kicks in dangerous areas and expect to get away with it. Frome punished us at every opportunity.”

Skipper Tom Melledew returns. from suspension.
