Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey says there is more to come from Henry Rose after the young striker scored his first Premier Division goal in last weekend’s win against Weymouth.

Two hat-tricks for the reserves prompted Jeffrey to give him another run-out for the first team, with his second-half sealing a fine show in a 3-0 victory.

And Jeffrey is looking for him to do the same when they travel to league leaders Salisbury on Saturday.

“He was a breath of fresh air for us,” said Jeffrey, who paired Rose up front with David Stone.

“He has done quite well when he’s played for us before and did well when he came on as substitute against Salisbury (Banbury lost 1-0).

“He gave us a bit of enthusiasm and chased a lot of lost causes. The icing on the cake was that he scored a goal in the last 20 minutes or so.

“We’ve got a few lads like him at the club who are knocking at the door like Harrison Foster and James Peppiatt.

“Declan Benjamin also did well, winning the penalty and made a good run for the second goal.

“We haven’t got the money to throw about, so it’s good when you get lads like Henry coming through. We’d like to get more.

“Joe Coleman did the same as did Joe Murrell.”

Jeffrey said the win against Weymouth had given his side the perfect lift ahead of Saturday’s tough trip to Wiltshire and Tuesday’s game at play-off chasers Hednesford.

He added: “We have been playing good football like that for six weeks, but we have been missing our chances.

“Against Weymouth, we took our chances and the goals came at the right time.

“We have two tough games coming up, which is why it was such an important result for us.

“I’ve given the lads a break this week, so we have a fully fit squad.”
