Noticed anything strange about Oxford United’s wins this season?
Although we are now approaching the middle of March, with just seven weeks of the campaign left, the U’s have still not registered a 1-0 victory.
And that despite chalking up 13 wins so far, so it is not as though they have found them hard to come by.
It’s doubtful if there is another club in the country in the same boat.
It is, after all, one of the most common scores.
By comparison, United had six 1-0 wins in the league in both 2005-6 and 2006-7, eight in 2007-8, seven in 2008-9 and no fewer than ten last season, including three of the last six (regular season) games.
Tomorrow’s opponents, Port Vale, have had five 1-0 wins to date this season.
The U’s have suffered five 1-0 defeats, three of them in League Two.
