United's historian, and programme editor, Martin Brodetsky, is in the middle of writing a book, entitled The Who’s Who of Oxford United.

The hardback book of more than 500 pages, will include up-to-date details of the current season.

Brodetsky said: “More than 700 players are featured, everyone who has played for the first team since 1949, with at the very least stats on him, and where possible, a biography and photo.

“I started at A and I’m up to H,” he said.

So has he come across any interesting facts about players, those up to H at least?

“Ricky George, who scored the winner for Hereford against Newcastle, and played for Oxford United before Hereford, became a very successful racehorse trainer.”

There will also be items on a small number of players who appeared before 1949 who were key to the club’s history, along with features on each manager and other significant characters.

It is due out in August.

The first 200 to pre-order (01332 384235) will have their name put on a Roll of Honour.

l PROGRAMME Monthly have recognised United’s pprgramme, and the work put in by former editor Chris Will-iams, by naming it ‘best value in League Two’.
