North Leigh boss Mark Gee said their 9-3 thumping by Oxford United in the Senior Cup helped blow away the cobwebs after their enforced break ahead of Saturday's Division 1 South & West trip to Gosport Borough.
“The pitch (at Thame) was great, Oxford were great and took it seriously, so it was a good workout.
“Although we’re disappointed to have conceded so many goals, we did create a lot of chances.
“Matty Taylor (who scored twice against his old club) gave a good account of himself.
“We hadn’t played for two weeks so a few players were puffing, so it’s just what we needed.”
They will be without Aaron Posey for the next six weeks as he completes basic training ahead of joining the Parachute Regiment.
Kieron Sanders is suspended, though Toby Clark could return.
Abingdon United could give a debut to James Pilgrim away to Frome after signing him on a month’s loan from Aldershot Town.
They will be without Chris Harper and Alan Foster (both unavailable).
