OXFORD United should have a fully fit squad to choose from for Saturday's game against away-day specialists Hereford at the Kassam Stadium.

Simon Clist was not fit to start last weekend’s 3-0 win at Morecambe because of a back injury, but has been having treatment and is in contention.

He might, however, struggle to get his old left-sided midfield berth back after Asa Hall’s superb two-goal show at the Globe Arena.

That victory, coupled with some favourable midweek results, means that United could get into the play-off places with victory.

Skipper James Constable said it was no surprise to him to see Hall among the goals.

“It’s nice that the midfielders are chipping in – especially for Asa, he’s been getting disappointed that he hasn’t scored,” Constable said.

“But he scored a great goal against Shrewsbury and it was down to hard work that he got his two goals last Saturday.

“He’s been working really hard and scores goal after goal in training.

“And he’s been unlucky in games not to get what his work has deserved.

“It’s great to see him on the scoresheet and hopefully he can get a lot more between now and the end of the season.”

‘Beano’ added: “Hereford will be difficult. When we played there early in the season it was probably one of our better away performances and we deserved the three points, but it’ll be a tough game.”

United manager Chris Wilder said: “It was disappointing for Simon, because he missed a lot of pre-season and he came back, worked extremely hard.

“Sometimes you get an after-effect of missing six or eight weeks – he was just feeling it a little bit.

“I know all the players have got a lot of desire because they’ve shown that to me.

“I thought they’ve shown great energy levels all season, especially recently. Late on at Morecambe we looked strong.”

Hereford have won their last three away league games. If the FA Cup is included, they have won their last five on the grounds of League Two opponents.

Wilder said: “It’ll be a difficult game. But we’re nice and positive at home.

“Hereford are one of the form teams in the league and we’ve got to make sure we show them the respect and their manager the respect they’re due, and work hard.

“We need to keep focused and enjoy this part of the season. We’re going into it on the front foot.

“We took tremendous support to Stevenage and Morecambe. If we can keep that positive support going into the last part of the season, and keep our feet on the ground, we should have some exciting times ahead.”

Bulls skipper Janos Kovacs, a former Hungary Under 21 international, returns from suspension after he was sent off against Burton, which forced him to miss their 1-1 draw with Northampton in midweek.

Hereford yesterday registered goalkeeping coach Russell Hoult as a player, meaning the former Derby man will replace Rhett Heister on the bench as back-up to Adam Bartlett.
