Two tries from Christoph Bart helped Oxfordshire to a 28-3 victory over Buckinghamshire in their opening National Under 20 Championship clash at Wallingford.

The Henley man impressed at outside centre as Oxon got their South West Region A campaign off to a strong start.

Bart beat three defenders to score the first try on ten minutes, converted by fly half and captain Alex Stevenson (Rugby Lions).

Bucks wing Jack Kenyon replied with a penalty three minutes later.

Oxford University locks Richard Russell and William Fell dominated the line-outs, while scrum half Max Mitcham (Henley) sniped try No 2, Stevenson converting.

Oxon wheeled a 58th-minute scrum, with replacement Will Clark (Henley) strolling in for Stevenson to convert.

Six minutes later, Sam Ebbs (Wallingford) showed great vision to find Bart, who sprinted in from 35 yards and Stevenson added the extras.

Oxon’s next match is against Dorset & Wilts at Henley on March 6, where coaching team Nick Cole (manager), Martin Moran (head coach), Jamie Lakin (backs), Nick Darke (forwards) and Gerry Hill (forwards) are targeting an improvement.
