Windrush Valley’s Patrice Guillois, 16, returned from Blaenau Gwent with another win to add to his collection after a determined performance to outpoint Cardigan rival David Lewis.

There was little to split the pair during the first two sessions of this teenage flyweight battle.

But the Oxfordshire youngster upped his workrate during the deciding round to outwork his rival with precise flurries of shots. And the gym gained a second success in South Wales as featherweight Jacob Mattock, 15, imposed his authority over Baglan’s Robert Hancock from the bell.

A solid right scythed through the guard to prompt a standing count after only 75 seconds and Mattock then consolidated his authority with neat combinations as he romped to victory. But there was disappointment for the two Witney girls who also crossed the Severn Bridge.

Charlotte Clements, 13, was the victim of a highly-debatable decision following her debut encounter with Annabelle Morris, of Baglan ABC.

Despite landing the more precise jabs – and displaying more tricks in her arsenal – the judges, somehow, sided with her Welsh opponent.

Welterweight Jasmine Yeates, 17, suffered her first defeat in four outings as she failed to match the strength of Gellagher rival Lauren Price – an all-round sportswoman who is considered a potential candidate in five sports for the London 2012 Olympics.
