No 8 Callum Godfrey scored a brace of tries as Burford came from behind to beat holders Cokethorpe (Witney) 15-12 in the Oxfordshire Under 15 Cup final at Witney RFC.

Cokethorpe opened the scoring after five minutes when centre Jackson Burton crossed in the corner following good back play.

Burford quickly responded with some fantastic rucking, and Godfrey broke through the Cokethorpe defence for a try.

But Cokethorpe were ahead again before the break when Burton crossed for his second try following a superb passage of play from the forwards.

Joe Hill converted to put Cokethorpe 12-5 ahead at half-time.

With the wind behind them in the second half, Burford levelled with Godfrey carrying two defenders over for his second try, converted by captain Ted Landray.

And five minutes from time, fly half Landray kicked the winning penalty.

It was heartbreaking for Cokethorpe, who had set their sights on a cup treble but ended up with one trophy after their under 19s beat Henley College 8-7 last month.
