Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon is enjoying the best season of his career.

Longsdon, in just his second campaign since moving to Hull Farm, has now clocked up 22 winners.

He equalled his previous best tally of 20 – set in 2007-8 when he was based at Sezincote, near Moreton-in-Marsh – when Island Jim scored at Leicester.

And he bettered it with Far More Serious’s victory at Bangor, before Palypso de Creek added to his total with a hard-fought Wetherby win.

Palypso de Creek, given an inspired ride by Tom Siddall, bounced back to form in a handicap hurdle over three miles and a furlong.

It came after he had failed to finish on his four previous starts over fences.

“We will now look for a few more staying hurdles,” said Longsdon. “We might only think about going chasing again next season after a good summer out and time to forget all his worries from this year.”
