Southern League Division 1 South & West rivals North Leigh and Abingdon United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Eynsham Park, a result which most onlookers felt was about right.
Visitors Abingdon went ahead on 31 minutes with a free-kick from Shaun Wimble, who curled the ball into the corner of the net from 20 yards.
And four minutes before the break, Wimble’s corner was headed against the bar.
North Leigh equalised two minutes into the second half. Ben Reardon found Andy McCabe and his cross was drilled home by Andy Caton.
New signing Yashwa Romeo forced a good save from Alan Lonsdale in the North Leigh goal, but the home side almost snatched it at the death when Kieran Sanders smacked a 20-yard free-kick against the crossbar.
