EDDIE Pepperell is back in England action tomorrow when he plays in the Jones Invitational Cup.

The 20-year-old Drayton Park member and teammate Andrew Cooley (Chobham) are representing the English Golf Union (EGU) at Ocean Forest Golf Club, Sea Island, Georgia, USA from tomorrow until Sunday.

Here a field of 84 top amateurs from the US and around the world will compete over 54 holes of strokeplay.

Pepperell, who won the Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship and the Berkshire Trophy last year, will look to get his 2011 campaign off to a strong start.

The Jones Cup was inaugurated in 2001 at Sea Island and the most successful English player so far has been Gary Wolstenholme, who finished tied fifth that year.

Originally a biennial event, it is now played annually.

l FRILFORD Heath will host the English Amateur Championship in 2013, the EGU have announced.

The testing courses at Frilford have been popular venues for EGU events as well as for the R&A and the LGU.

The 2013 English Championship, from July 29 to August 3, will be the second occasion that it has staged the event, the last being in 1987 when Kevin Weeks beat Bobby Eggo from the Channel Islands in an all-Hampshire Union final.

More recently, Frilford staged the English Seniors Championship in 2003 and the England v France international in 2008, which coincided with the club’s centenary.
