Gosford All Blacks 5, Bicester 15

Bicester made it three BB&O Premier Division wins on the bounce after edging one of the scrappiest games you will ever see.

For an hour, neither side came close to scoring as the errors spiralled, but in the end Bicester did enough, sealing it with a last-gasp try from centre Adam Spencer.

The first half was a torrid affair to say the least, littered with penalties, stoppages and knock-ons.

Referee Nigel Gibson felt Gosford were committing more of these and after warning them, handed flanker Alex Webb a yellow card on 19 minutes.

Gosford, however, were dominating the scrums and their seven-man pack still managed to wheel a Bicester put in.

Home centre Jack Briggs had a couple of powerful runs, while Bicester scrum half Steve Risbridger repeatedly scragged his opposite number Tim Ellis at the base.

One of the more interesting moments saw the game held up while Bicester prop Alex Benjamin went off to get a fresh contact lens!

It had to get better after the break and Risbridger did his best to get Bicester moving.

Unsurprisingly, their opening try on 58 minutes came from an error as Dan Horwood’s overthrown line-out found flanker Adrian Teckoe who blasted over from close range.

Risbridger converted and added a penalty as his side looked to take control.

This in turn seemed to kickstart Gosford as Ellis showed his running prowess.

The hosts’ territory was finally rewarded when wing Ed Ronan dived over on the right after hooker Will Gillgrass recycled the ball well.

With Gibson eventually playing ten minutes of stoppage time, Gosford had their chances for a comeback.

They didn’t help themselves when centre Harry Sutton missed touch with a penalty.

And Bicester sealed the spoils with a slick counter-attack, which was the first time either side had cut loose.

Dom Southey broke through the middle and found fellow centre Adam Spencer, who cut inside to score.

The final act saw fly half Jak Cluness miss his conversion from in front of the posts.
