Leaders Oxford Hawks returned to competitive action in style with a 7-0 win over Harrow in Women's South League Division 1.

Positive and enthusiastic from the off, Hawks were relentless in their attacks.

Cita Haines fired them in front, and captain Ali Omell kept her composure to bury a rebound for No 2.

Another goal from Cita Haines was followed by a well-timed burst to the right post from Kathryn Poulter, earning her place on the scoresheet.

Four up at half-time, Hawks kept going, with another fine move finished by Abi Florey.

With Sandra Frankland enjoying a fine game, the goal rush continued.

Florey scored again with a deflection, and Becky Odlin completed the rout with a reverse-stick strike.

Two goals from Sadie Lapper helped Banbury to come from behind to beat hosts City of Oxford 2-1 in Division 3A.

Banbury completed a triumphant weekend with a 7-2 trouncing of Southgate the following day to overtake Witney and return to the top of the table.

City dominated the first half against Banbury, taking a deserved 1-0 half-time lead with a goal from Kim Haines. It would have been greater but for some fine saves by Banbury keeper Shelley Irvine.

Banbury changed formation in the second half with Ruth Tuthill dropping deep behind two forwards to play an attacking midfield role.

This paid dividends as Lara Wilkinson set up Lapper for an equaliser.

Ten minutes from time, Lapper scored a super individual goal to clinch victory.

On Sunday, Charlie Moran scored twice on her return to the side as Banbury trounced Southgate.

Their other goals came from Lapper – to make it 14 in five games since her December signing – Hayley Nunneley, Vicky Page, Lara Wilkinson and Tash Nunneley.

A Joy Mangazi hat-trick helped Witney seal a 6-1 win against Sonning.

Witney took an early lead as Mangazi linked up well with Sunny Ricketts and Anna Kirk.

Sharon Hall bagged her second in two games, before Anna Kirk made it 3-1.

Mangazi then scored a stunning reverse-stick strike from an acute angle.

Witney finished the match strongly with Mangazi scoring her third and Katie Gatt firing in a powerful strike with the game’s last touch.

Rover Oxford made a strong return, after the long Christmas break, with a hard-fought 0-0 draw in Division 2, against Oxford University.

Caro Harris and Suzie Williams made vital tackles to break down the students’ play, and Aynsley Bruce fed some excellent passes to the Rover forwards.
