Evesham Utd 3 (Palmer pen 40, Accam 49, Shaze 54)

Didcot Tn 0

Didcot Town, watched by new manager Ady Williams, slipped into the bottom four of the Premier Division after being comfortably dispatched by Evesham United.

Former Wales international Williams, who had long spells at Reading and Swindon Town in a 20-year playing career, agreed terms with Didcot on Saturday morning.

And he saw the game turned on two penalties awarded shortly before half-time.

Evesham had only threatened the Railwaymen’s def-ence sporadically until Sam Mensah was felled by a lunging tackle around the penalty spot.

But there was confusion as to the identity of the perpetrator, with Alex Stanley, to his bewilderment, sent off.

Marcus Palmer slotted home the spot-kick, but the Railwaymen were offered an immediate route back into the match when Elliott Osborne-Ricketts won himself a dubious-looking penalty after tumbling over a challenge by Anthony Watson. But Osborne-Ricketts hammered his spot-kick into orbit.

Didcot fell further behind early in the second half when David Accam beat Andy Gunn on the halfway line, before outstripping Jordan Tabor and cutting in from the right to clip the ball beyond Steve Smith.

Isaac Shaze swiftly added a third, outpacing the Didcot rearguard before lobbing the onrushing Smith from 25 yards.

Didcot Tn: Smith, Gunn, M Williams (Griffin 68), Alexis, A Williams, Stanley, Heapy, Huggins, Bartley, Lawrence, Osborne-Ricketts (Tabor HT).
