Yarnton RBL A became the first team to beat Oxford Union this season with a sudden death 4-3 success in the first round of the Gentworks Oxford & District League Buildbase Plate.
It looked all over as Yarnton stormed into a 3-0 lead, only for Oxford Union to level.
However, Eddie Christiansen won it for Yarnton with a 44-32 win against Russell Smith in the sudden-death seventh frame.
John Parsons won the opener 46-23, and the second frame 47-40, before Mick Aust made it 3-0 to Yarnton with a 73-52 success against Smith.
However, Smith took the next 51-33, with Richard Walters beating Eddie Christiansen 57-23, 50-32 for 3-3.
Christiansen then edged out Smith to clinch victory.
Cowley Workers A beat Cowley Conservative Club A 4-3 in the quarter-finals of the Simmonds Cup.
The Conservative Club eased into a 2-0 lead with Malcolm Grieveson beating Darren Murray 66-25 and Chick Wheatley seeing off Malachy McAllister 79-50.
Lee McAllister then struck back for Workers with a 75-18 win against Keith Pearce.
Grieveson restored Conservative Club’s two-frame cushion when he beat Murray 51-21.
Malachy then beat Wheatley to make it 3-2 and although Lee levelled the clash at 3-3 by beating 69-15, Workers went through on aggregate.
