Goalkeeper Sam Warrell scored a penalty and saved one in a dramatic shoot-out as Didcot Town reached the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup semi-finals with victory at Hungerford last night.
With the sides locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes, Didcot triumphed 5-4 when the penalties went to sudden death – Josh Dutton-Black notching the winner.
Ben McCready scored a penalty for Hungerford on 34 minutes, with Didcot’s Elliott Osborne-Ricketts replying in kind a minute later.
Didcot had Andy Gunn sent off for a second yellow card on 85 minutes.
Both teams missed one of their first five spot-kicks before Dutton-Black sealed it.
Oxford City reached the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup after a 2-1 victory at Carterton.
City scored early in the second half through Wayne Blossom.
Carl Austin’s own goal made it 2-0 on 70 minutes, but he bagged a consolation on the final whistle.
Abingdon United conceded two late goals to lose 3-1 at home to Mangotsfield in Division 1 South & West of the Zamaretto Southern League.
Mangotsfield’s Karim Kendall netted on 25 minutes, with John Mills equalising ten minutes later.
Abingdon keeper Jon Beames made three great second-half saves, but Matt Groves and Tom Knighton netted on 80 and 85 minutes.
