Headington Ams 2 (Cuff 5, Hafiz 86)

Lydney Tn 0

Headington Amateurs went four points clear at the top of Division 1 West, when goals at either end of the game gave them victory over their closest rivals.

The hosts opened the scoring after only five minutes when Aaron Williams evaded a tackle in midfield and found Luke Cuff, who slipped away from two defenders before beating the onrushing keeper Mike Reddan.

Headington's back line restricted Lydney to efforts from distance in the first half.

Twice around the hour mark an under pressure Headington broke free, but Cuff rolled his first effort wide was then foiled by the keeper.

With four minutes of normal time left, Aftab Hafiz picked up a ball on the right side of midfield, turned inside and curled in a beautifully struck left-footer to seal the victory.

Launton took the lead in the 56th minute through Alex Jennings following a goalmouth scramble.

Ten minutes from time, Launton’s Danny Coggins was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Then injury time, the referee, ignoring a previous foul by Malmesbury, awarded a penalty against Launton defender Callum Cooper, and Mark Field levelled the scores from the spot.

Milton Utd 1 (Sanders 32) Henley Tn 0

Milton strengthened their hold on third place in Division 1 East with a narrow victory over leaders Henley.

The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when a superb ball over the top from Warren McCabe was met by Paul Sanders, who cut inside the defender and scored with a low shot into the corner.

Milton had to change things around straight after the goal when Danny Morgan went off injured, but the central partnership of Ross Tabor and Butler prevented Henley getting in a single shot.

The point is only Launton’s second of the season.
