Yate Tn 1 (Burnell og 62)

North Leigh 2 (Taylor 57, Burnell 86)

Joe Burnell scored at both ends, with his late winner maintaining North Leigh’s run of six unbeaten Division 1 South & West games.

Burnell had inadvertently cancelled out Matty Taylor’s 23rd goal of the season which gave the Yellows a deserved lead Yate keeper Josh Dempsey pulled off the first of string of superb saves after five minutes when he tipped over a curling Kieran Sanders effort which was heading for the top corner.

Dempsey saved from Taylor three times in a first half, which ended with the keeper again denying Sanders with another superb diving stop.

The breakthrough arrived when Sanders’s far-post cross was returned across goal by Andy Caton for Taylor to drill in a low ten-yard shot.

Yate were level five minutes later when a lofted free-kick to the far post was turned into his own net by Burnell as he att-empted to clear the danger.

Yate then enjoyed their best spell, and Adam Lonsdale saved well from Mark Rey-nolds.

But North Leigh’s perseverance was rewarded.

Dempsey tipped Sanders shot over the bar, but from the resultant Simon Futcher corner, Joe Wood got the deftest of flicks at the near post and Burnell bundled the ball home.
