Oxford City boss Mike Ford has put out a challenge to striker James Faulkner – keep up the good work.

Faulkner led the line well in City’s 2-1 win against Premier Division Swindon Supermarine on Saturday after being recalled from Oxford City Nomads.

And Ford wants him to do the same against Chesham United at home on Saturday.

“I asked him to push around their centre halves, which he did, and his overall play was great.” said Ford, who has signed Swindon Town keeper Jakub Jesionkowski on loan for the rest of the season.

“My challenge to James now is can he maintain it?

“A couple of years ago he got a hat-trick for City, and two games later he was out of the team because his performances were poor.

“He now needs to keep up his standard – week in, week out.”

Ford added: “I was pleased how we did against Swindon.

“They had won seven out of eight games and we had to accept they would put us under pressure.

“We conceded, but we didn’t go under. When we went down to ten men (Jack Ashton was sent off for two bookings) we battled away well.”

City will be without Jerome Anderson who suffered a hamstring injury against Swindon, so Michael Lyon comes in.

Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace wants positive response against Stourbridge, after the 2-1 loss at Banbury United.

Peace said: “That is one of the worst displays I have seen from us for a long time, definitely this season,” said Peace.

“We just didn’t turn up. We have been playing well, but that performance puts us back to square one.

“We have to accept that we are in a relegation battle and unless we improve then we will be down there for the rest of the season.

“Saturday was not good enough and after a hard training session on Tuesday I told them exactly what is expected of them.”

Banbury give a fitness test to striker David Stone (ankle) before the trip to Hednesford.

Defender Aynsley McDonald is added to the squad after re-joining on loan from Rushden for the rest of the season.

Manager Billy Jeffrey said: “I was pleased with our first half against Didcot – we pulled them apart with our pace.

“But we sat too deep in the second half.”

North Leigh boss Mark Gee has told his side to defend better when they travel to Yate in Division 1 South & West.

His side have shipped seven goals in their last two games, including conceding three and scoring three in the first ten minutes of last week’s 3-3 draw at Mangotsfield.

Gee, who adds Brian Bowles to the squad, said: “It was ludicrous. I’ve never seen defending like it.”
