George Thatcher hit a hat-trick in Vale of White Horse Under 15s’ 5-1 win over Luton in the Hobbs Cup first round at Milton United.

After a goalless first half, Vale, with the wind at their backs dominated the second period, and Ollie Thomas gave them the lead with a cross-shot which sailed into the top corner.

Thatcher then turned home a cross from Sam Earl, before running on to a through ball to score again.

He completed his hat-trick after good work by Connor Powell, and Drew Farquharson scored an excellent individual goal, before Luton netted with the last kick of the game.

Vale are now away to Newbury or Swindon in the next round.

VALE of White Horse Under 13s battled gamely before going down 1-0 to Southampton in the Meeson Trophy at Testwood School, Totton.
