Universal Soldier made a sparkling debut for Aston Rowant trainer Lawney Hill with a runaway victory at Chepstow on Saturday.
The six-year-old, formerly trained by Nicky Henderson, coasted home by 15 lengths under Harry Skelton in the three-mile handicap hurdle.
Universal Soldier is owned by Llanelli Scarlets and former New Zealand rugby union star Regan King.
