Ardley Utd 2 (Bone 62, Nicholls 82)

Shortwood Utd 1 (Mortlock 47)

Murray Nicholls’s stunning 30-yard free-kick gave Ardley United victory over Shortwood – and stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division to nine points.

Ardley had been outplayed for much of the game, but Nicholls’s spectacular effort eight minutes from time gave them the win.

Shortwood had taken the lead two minutes into the second half with Chris Mortlock finishing off a fine move.

Ardley levelled in the 62nd minute when Troy Bryan flicked on Lewis Travers’s pass for Danny Bone to shoot inside the near post.

That set the stage for Nicholls’s superb free-kick.

Kidlington 4 (Odhiambo 11, Baker 13, Quainton 27, Parker 48)

Reading Tn 1 (Stevens 68)

New loan signing Anaclet Odhiambo took just 11 minutes to open his account for Kidlington, who shot up to second place with an emphatic win over Reading Town.

Odhiambo, signed on Friday from Abingdon United, sidefooted home Mark Flanagan’s cross to set Kidlington on the way.

The home side doubled their advantage two minutes later. Jimmy Deabill sliced his shot, but Mark Baker reacted quickest to control the ball and fire it home.

It was 3-0 in the 27th minute when Odihiambo’s deflected cross fell just right for the onrushing Jack Quainton to blast a shot home from six yards.

Kidlington struck again three minutes into the second half with Jordan Parker’s free-kick beating everyone, and despite keeper Nathan Silver’s best efforts it went over the line.

Reading kept battling, and pulled a goal back in the 68th minute when Town substitute Dave Stevens turned home Marcus Richardson’s cross.
