Oxford United fell behind in the first half against Southend United at the Kassam Stadium today.
Barry Corr shot Southend into an 18th-minute lead from their first corner. United managed to block one shot, but Corr followed up with a low drive through a sea of bodies from 12 yards.
And it went from bad to worse for the U's just before half-time when visiting right back Sean Clohessy pumped a long cross forward from near the touchline, and saw it float over Ryan Clarke and go in off a post, with the keeper desperately trying to backtrack.
United's best chance in the first 45 minutes came when James Constable headed Ben Purkiss's right-wing cross wide from ten yards.
