Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey has called on striker David Stone to carry on where he left off after he rejoined from Premier Division rivals Hemel Hempstead.

Stone who left Spencer Stadium last summer to join Halesowen, is set to make his return debut at home to Chesham United on Saturday.

“We are very pleased to have him back,” said Jeffrey, whose side are looking to record a double against Chesham.

“With Nabil (Sharif) going back to Rushden after his loan spell and Scott Cross and Jason Taylor injured we were short of strikers, so we put in an approach for David.

“We spoke to him and he wanted to come back.

“We need someone who can score goals and with pace. We’ve been there before with him and he has done a good job.

“So we’re looking for him to start where he left off.”

But Stone’s return creates a dilemma for Jeffrey.

Defender Marvin Martin did well as a makeshift striker, scoring a goal in the 4-2 win at Weymouth.

“From the first minute he caused them problems, so it’s given me something to think about. He’s another option.”

Oxford City manager Mike Ford is optimistic that their on-loan Swindon Town keeper Jakub Jesionkowski will be able to extend his stay.

The Polish under-21 international’s loan spell is due to end after tomorrow’s home clash with leaders Truro City.

“We’re hoping we can keep him through Christmas,” said Ford, who is without Andy Ballard (ankle injury).

“Jakub has done very well – we’ve only conceded one goal in four games.”

Meanwhile, Ford says he is relishing the visit of Truro.

“It’s a battle of who I think are the best two strikers in this division. They have Barry Hayles and we have Lee Steele.

“Hopefully, Lee will score a few goals and come out on top.

“They are top for a reason and we will have to be at our very best to even contemplate getting anything from the game. But if we show any kind of weakness against them we will get whacked.”

Didcot Town are aiming to end their nine-game winless run at Hednesford.

Town haven’t won for nine games, but Peace said: “Our league position says we are struggling, but it is not reflected in our performances,” said boss Stuart Peace.

“We are getting punished because teams are taking their chances. We have to keep plugging away.”

On-loan Aldershot striker Reece Connolly could be recalled by the League Two side for their trip to Rotherham due to an injury crisis.

Alex Stanley returns after a calf problem, though Jordan Tabor and James Organ are both suspended.
