Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace has slammed James Organ’s red card as ‘ridiculous’ after the defender was ordered off on his debut.

The new signing from Abingdon United was sent off after collecting two yellow cards during their 2-1 Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division defeat by Cambridge City.

However, Peace, felt his defender was harshly treated.

“The first challenge wasn’t even a yellow card,” said Peace whose side visit Salisbury on Saturday, though the match is in doubt due to the big freeze.

“I don’t think he even made contact and their player has taken a dive.

“The second one was just a tangle of legs on the edge of the area. If it had happened further up the pitch then I don’t think even a foul would have been given.

“James was pretty cheesed off about the red card, but I don’t think he deserved to be sent off – I thought the decision was ridiculous, so he’s not going to be fined.

“He had a very good debut.”

Banbury United manager Billy Jeffrey has praised the efforts of his new signings ahead of the trip to Weymouth where officials hope the game will go-ahead.

Former Reading youngster Mitchell Bryant, Liam Hynes (from Daventry United) and Oxford United loanee Henry Owen made their debuts in Banbury’s 1-1 home draw against Leamington.

“The lads that came in did really well and made us more solid than we have been all season.

“It would be great to continue that at Weymouth. We have spoken to their secretary and they are hopeful it will be on.

“Hopefully, Mitchell will be with us, though I know a few clubs that are interested in signing him.”

They will be without injured defender Owen.

Oxford City’s trip to Stourbridge is in serious doubt, with a pitch inspection planned.

Manager Mike Ford said: “There is every indication that it’s going to be off.

“There are plusses and minuses. It will be good for Andy Ballard and Craig McIllwain if it is off because it wil give Andy time to recover from his ankle injury and Craig is unavailable.

“If it is on, it will be a tough ask, but the way we have been playing lately, we are capable of getting a good result.”

Abingdon United will hold a pitch inspection at 11am tomorrow ahead of their Division 1 South & West home clash against Mangotsfield.

Press officer Bill Fletcher said: “It depends if it warms up during tomorrow night and gives enough time for the frost to come out of the ground.

“I would guess it being in favour of it going ahead unless we get heavy snow instead.”

North Leigh are due to visit Sholing, but prospects are not good.

Sholing secretary Colin Chamberlain said: “Unless the temperature goes up, the pitch will stay frozen, so I will be checking on Friday to decide if we need an inspection.”
