Racing driver Will Bratt is considering a move from F2 into the football-themed Superleague Formula for next year.

Featuring 750 horsepower, V12-engined single-seater cars carrying the colours of some of the world’s biggest football clubs, Bratt, 22, of Banbury, says the championship is an intriguing and popular combination of two sports.

One of the most desirable aspects of Superleague Formula for Bratt, is that the cars are big and powerful, not unlike the Euroseries 3000 racer he steered to championship success in 2009.

Following Bratt’s success with the Euroseries 3000, he stepped up to the Formula 2 Championship this year.

And he adapted well to the Williams JPH1B car, securing four podiums and a best result of second during the penultimate round in Valcencia, Spain.

Bratt said: “There were plenty of opportunities for us to snatch a win or two this year, but things just didn’t quite go our way when we needed them to.

“The racing was close, though, all year and, given our budget constraints, Formula 2 was the best option we could have gone for.”

He began the season aiming for a title challenge, but as the year progressed, a number of difficulties prevented that – mainly in qualifying.

But he was also shunted out of several races, and had to settle for fifth in the championship.

Bratt added: “Overall the year was obviously a disappointment as I failed to achieve the goals I had set.

“However, I know there were times when I was unlucky and more than anything it has made me hungrier for success again in 2011.”
