Oxford Cheetahs will entertain Poole in front of the Sky Sports cameras next Monday.

The south coast side, broke their away duck with a win at Belle Vue on Monday.

Following tonight's Elite League match, the youngsters of the Oxford Academy, sponsored by fromer Cheetahs promoter Steve Gresham, will be competing in their first Southern Area Junior League match against Eastbourne Eaglets.

The 2005 Oxford junior side stormed to the Conference League title and Cheetahs promoter Aaron Lanney fully intended to track a team to defend it this season.

However, those plans were well and truly sunk on the eve of the new campaign when most of the riders he intended to track were whisked away elsewhere.

"I was very unhappy indeed when that happened," said Lanney.

"But I had no say in the matter and was powerless to do anything about it.

"We were, therefore, starting from scratch again.

"While this a mere humble beginning, the intention is to formulate a comprehensive junior policy here for the future prosperity of the club.

"Hopefully, that will include running training schools during the winter.

"Who knows, we could unearth some raw talent who will eventually ride for the Cheetahs."

The Academy side includes Sam Martin, who was a member of the Oxford team that won the Conference last year.
